बीकानेर, @MaruSangram। श्रावण मास के प्रथम सोमवार को महाराजा गंगा सिंह विश्वाविद्यालय के इतिहास विभाग के नवप्रवेशित विद्यार्थियों द्वारा विभाग के समक्ष स्थित उद्यान में पौधारोपण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया।

कुलगुरु मनोज दीक्षित ने इस अवसर पर विद्यार्थियों को बताया कि प्राचीन भारतीय समाज ने सदैव प्रकृति और मनुष्य के मध्य गहरे संबंध को समझाते हुए वृक्षों को केवल उपयोगिता की वस्तु नहीं, बल्कि जीवनदाता, देवतुल्य और लोककल्याणकारी माना।

पुराणों में पीपल, वट, अशोक, बेल, आंवला और नीम जैसे वृक्षों के रोपण को विशेष पुण्यदायी माना गया है।

इस अवसर पर विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. मेघना शर्मा ने कहा कि इतिहास में मौर्यकालीन शिलालेखों और स्तंभलेखों में सड़कों के किनारे छायादार वृक्ष लगवाए जाने , यात्रियों के लिए कुएँ खुदवाए जाने तथा औषधीय पौधों के रोपण की व्यवस्था कराये जाने के उल्लेख मिलते हैँ। कौटिल्य के अर्थशास्त्र में अवैध कटाई तथा वन संपदा के दुरुपयोग के लिए दंड का भी उल्लेख मिलता है।

पीपल को विष्णु, वट को ब्रह्मा तथा तुलसी को लक्ष्मी का स्वरूप माना गया।
डॉ. शर्मा ने आगे कहा कि नवप्रवेशित विद्यार्थियों को संस्थान से भावनात्मक रूप से जोड़ने के प्रयोजन हेतु ये आयोजन रखा गया है।

पौधारोपण कार्यक्रम में विभाग के अतिथि शिक्षक डॉ. मुकेश हर्ष, डॉ. गोपाल व्यास, रिंकू जोशी, भगवान दास सुथार, डॉ. संजना चौधरी, और सुशीला बिश्नोई शामिल रहे। बजरंग कलवानी व उमेश पुरोहित का सहयोग रहा। विद्यार्थी वर्ग से कार्तिक शर्मा, सोहनलाल कुम्हार, ट्विंकल बीका, भीखाराम सुथार, गरिमा व्यास, अजीत सियाग, मूमल कँवर, अरविन्द सिंह भाटी, नेहा सलमान, तुषार गहलोत आदि ने विभाग का प्रतिनिधित्व किया।

Bikaner, @MaruSangram. On the first Monday of the month of Shravan, newly admitted students of the History Department of Maharaja Ganga Singh University organized a tree planting program in the garden in front of the department.

Vice Chancellor Manoj Dixit told the students on this occasion that ancient Indian society always understood the deep connection between nature and humans, considering trees not just objects of utility but also life-giving, divine, and beneficial to the public.

In the Puranas, planting trees like the Peepal, Banyan, Ashoka, Bel, Amla, and Neem is considered especially virtuous.

On this occasion, Department Head Dr. Meghna Sharma said that Mauryan inscriptions and pillar inscriptions mention the planting of shady trees along roads, the digging of wells for travelers, and the planting of medicinal plants. Kautilya’s Arthashastra also mentions penalties for illegal logging and misuse of forest resources.

The Peepal tree is considered a symbol of Vishnu, the Banyan tree a symbol of Brahma, and the Tulsi a symbol of Lakshmi.

Dr. Sharma further stated that this event was organized to emotionally connect newly admitted students with the institute.

Guest faculty members from the department, Dr. Mukesh Harsh, Dr. Gopal Vyas, Rinku Joshi, Bhagwan Das Suthar, Dr. Sanjana Chaudhary, and Sushila Bishnoi participated in the tree planting program. Bajrang Kalwani and Umesh Purohit also supported the event. From the student section, Kartik Sharma, Sohanlal Kumhar, Twinkle Bika, Bhikharam Suthar, Garima Vyas, Ajit Siyag, Moomal Kanwar, Arvind Singh Bhati, Neha Salman, Tushar Gehlot etc. represented the department.
