बीकानेर राजपरिवार के समाधि स्थल के रूप में प्रसिद्ध है सागर की छतरियां : डॉ मेघना शर्मा

महाराजा गंगा सिंह विश्वविद्यालय के इतिहास विभाग के विद्यार्थियों ने सागर की छतरियों व देवीकुंड सागर का शैक्षणिक भ्रमण किया। सर्वप्रथम कुलगुरू आचार्य मनोज दीक्षित ने विद्यार्थी दल को हरी झंड़ी दिखाकर परिसर से रवाना किया।

इतिहास विभाग की विभागाध्यक्ष व भ्रमण निदेशक डॉ. मेघना शर्मा ने विद्यार्थियों को बताया कि सागर बीकानेर के राव बीकाजी के राजपरिवार के समाधि स्थल के रूप में ख्यात है जहां सोलहवीं सदी के राव कल्याणमल से लेकर बीसवीं सदी के महाराजा करणी सिंह तक के शासकों की छतरियां शामिल हैं, जिनमें दुलमेरा लाल पत्थर और संगमरमर और आधुनिक काल में ग्रेनाइट का भी उपयोग हुआ है।

सागर स्थित छतरियों के गुंबदों की छत पर हिन्दू देवी देवताओं के चित्र, फूलों, पक्षियों और मोर की बारीक नक्काशी है और इस प्रकार ये अपनेआप में राजपूत चित्रकला के प्रमुख आकर्षण हैं।

यह हिंदू और इस्लामी वास्तुकला का सुंदर मिश्रण प्रस्तुत करता है, जो भारतीय संस्कृति की समावेशिता के गुण को भी परिलक्षित करता है। डॉ. मुकेश हर्ष ने बताया कि देवीकुंड सागर राजपूत परंपरा और पितृ सम्मान की भावना का प्रतीक तो है ही साथ ही बीते युग की गाथाओं, परंपराओं और जनमानस की आस्था का अमर स्मारक भी है।

डॉ. रीतेश व्यास ने बताया कि महाराजा अनूप सिंह की छतरी सोलह खंभों पर टिकी, कला और स्थापत्य का अद्भुत नमूना है तो वहीं महाराजा सूरत सिंह की छतरी सफेद संगमरमर से बनी, बारीक नक्काशीदार और बहुत आकर्षक है।

भ्रमण दल में विभाग के लगभग साठ विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया। अतिथि शिक्षकों में डॉ गोपाल व्यास, जसप्रीत सिंह, डॉ खुशाल पुरोहित, रिंकू जोशी, भगवान दास सुथार शामिल रहे।

Sagar Cenotaphs are famous as the burial ground of the Bikaner royal family: Dr. Meghna Sharma

Students from the History Department of Maharaja Ganga Singh University conducted an educational trip to the Sagar Cenotaphs and Devikund Sagar. Vice-Chancellor Professor Manoj Dixit flagged off the student group from the university campus.

Dr. Meghna Sharma, Head of the History Department and trip director, informed the students that Sagar is renowned as the burial ground of the royal family of Rao Bikaji of Bikaner. It houses the cenotaphs of rulers from the 16th-century Rao Kalyanmal to the 20th-century Maharaja Karni Singh, constructed using Dulmera red sandstone, marble, and, in modern times, granite.

The domes of the cenotaphs at Sagar feature intricate carvings of Hindu deities, flowers, birds, and peacocks on their ceilings, making them a major attraction of Rajput art.

They present a beautiful blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture, reflecting the inclusive nature of Indian culture. Dr. Mukesh Harsh explained that Devikund Sagar is not only a symbol of Rajput tradition and respect for ancestors but also an immortal monument to the stories, traditions, and faith of the people of a bygone era.

Dr. Ritesh Vyas informed the students that Maharaja Anup Singh’s cenotaph, supported by sixteen pillars, is a magnificent example of art and architecture, while Maharaja Surat Singh’s cenotaph, made of white marble, is intricately carved and very attractive.

Approximately sixty students from the department participated in the trip. Guest faculty members included Dr. Gopal Vyas, Jaspreet Singh, Dr. Khushal Purohit, Rinku Joshi, and Bhagwan Das Suthar.
