पुलिस ने आरोपी जगदीश को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। आरोपी से वारदात में इस्तेमाल रॉड भी बरामद कर ली गई है। पुलिस के अनुसार आरोपी ने अपनी प्रेमिका के पति को हत्या के केस में फंसाने की खातिर अपने बचपन के दोस्त गोरा सिंह की हत्या की थी।

घटना वाले दिन ही शव गांव के खेत में पड़ा मिला था। सिर पर गहरे जख्म व जबड़ा बाहर निकला था। उस समय थाना लंबी में मृतक के बेटे अर्शदीप सिंह के बयान पर अज्ञात के खिलाफ हत्या का केस दर्ज किया गया था।

बुधवार को पत्रकार वार्ता में एसपी (डी) रमनदीप सिंह भुल्लर ने बताया कि 9-11-2020 को गांव चन्नू में हुई हत्या मामले में मृतक के बेटे अर्शदीप सिंह के बयान पर थाना लंबी में अज्ञात व्यक्ति के खिलाफ हत्या का केस दर्ज किया गया था। मामले में टीम का गठन कर लगातार जांच की जा रही थी।

बचपन का दोस्त था गोरा सिंह जांच में पता चला कि यह हत्या गांव चन्नू के ही रहने वाले जगदीश सिंह ने की थी। आरोपी को बुधवार को उसके गांव से गिरफ्तार किया गया।

आरोपी ने पूछताछ में बताया कि उसके गांव की रहने वाली एक महिला के साथ अवैध संबंध थे। वह महिला के पति को किसी केस में फंसाकर जेल भेजना चाहता था। गोरा सिंह उसका बचपन का दोस्त था। गोरा सिंह के साथ उसकी किसी तरह की दुश्मनी नहीं थी।
